dLICIOUS - Textless version by waxburden dLICIOUS - Textless version by waxburden
OK, so here's a little something different! I don't do much vector art, but I really should do moar, so... my entry for the deviantWEAR contest. Yum. It was challenging making it look like there was transparency without actually using any... I think it looks best on the "coffee" colored shirt.

Colors used: Pantone 100 C, 116 C, 122 C, 130 C, 138 C
Recommended t-shirt colors: Coral, Dirty Orange, Coffee, Heather Black, Army

(I cropped the text from the template for simplicity's sake, so it bears repeating: the dA logo and this shirt template design are copyright to deviantArt.)

Which do you think looks better? Text or no text? [link]

P.S. - I ate the navel orange I used as a reference. It was delicious. :la:

really awesome!! i would definitely want the textless...it might take some people time to see the dA on the orange. :D
plus the text kinda takes away from the orange image itself. :)

Thank you very much! Yeah, I have come to prefer the textless one too. >.> Even though I felt so clever with "dLICIOUS," heh. Maybe I'll have to work that into another design XD

hehehhe, well, i'm sure you'll find a way to put it somewhere. :)
or maybe you can createanother shirt design with "dLICIOUS" on it as a separate entry?

i prefer this one! the "d" in front and the "da" in the orange are confusing me... because i always see the dA symbol..

Oh. Very nice! Personally, I think it looks better without text, but then it might be a bit confusing. When I first saw it in thumbnail form (It was stacked over the text version) I thought it was a really neat concept, like a sunset or something. Then I picked out the DA symbol and realized what it was. XD

Hey I have a question then. How DO you do vector art. I admit I never searched very hard, but. I mean, is it the way the file is saved, a specific program @_@

Thanks! Yeah, I totally can't decide. XD But since it might be hard to see the dA at first, I figured it's nice to have the text option.

Basically the difference between vector and non-vector (raster) art is the way the computer generates the image...in vector art, lines are created using mathematical formulas. With raster art (like using the brush in Photoshop) images are created by grouping pixels together (basically...) So like, with vector art you can scale it as much as you want and it never looks bitmappy, because the lines and curves are created by formulas that never change.

You can make vector art in Photoshop with the Pen tool (basically anything with a path) but there's a lot of programs designed to create vector art specifically (like Illustrator and Corel Draw, also Fireworks.) :3

Long reply is long, hope that helped!

Pfft. I could out long you any day! XD

Helped very much thank you <3 Cause all I got is photoshop, and, if I never get around to an idea for a shirt, I would at least like to play with vectors one day. They always look so nice. XD

*Gives you an award of longness. It is shaped like a longcat. In bronze!* :trophy:

Hurray :3 Well, you can certainly use the pen tool in photoshop as well! I'm also looking into the program called Paint Tool Sai, it looks good for painting and also has a feature where you can ink in vectors. Useful stuff! It's only about US $50, so I might be getting that soon. Maybe you should too :D

I love longcats! *snuggles award*

Well. I have SAI. My knowledge of what SAI is capable of is way limited. I know it doesn't use a ton of my computers ability to function, and I use it for my Little Seph drawings, and lines, but NEVER coloring. And that's the extent of my knowledge. XD

Aha! Well, I know that in a 'lineart' layer, you can draw with vectors!

...And that's about all I know of Sai. >_>;

What to do? Buy Sai, or buy these? [link]

I found the vector stuff on SAI. Gonna try it out one of these days. Almost decided to try it on a line art I'm working on right now, but not a good time to be messing with the unknown. XD

Decisions decisions D= (Why are shoes so pricey these days!? I was gonna say, "But yeesh. 45 for a pair of shoes?" when I realized my shoes cost me that much too. XD)
